Story
My Story:
I am raising money for Sight Life (formally Cardiff Institute for the Blind). This amazing local charity supported me when I was first registered blind 10 years ago. At the time the support they provided me and my family in the hospital and at home was exceptional and so needed!!
Sight Life have also been a massive supporter of Cardiff Rugby’s Visually Impaired Rugby Team from the beginning, a team very close to my heart.
I will be taking part in the Longevity Games at Swindon Harriers Athletics Stadium on the 18th of May. The event is very similar to Hyrox and involves me running 1200 meters x 6 with:
100 Squats
50 Hand Walk Outs
50 Get Up Stand Up’s
100 Lunges
100 Burpees
Inbetween the runs. I will aim to do all of this in just over an hour (I’ve done it in the gym in 62 minutes).
In line with the 160 year anniversary of Sight Life my heart rate will average around 160 bpm during the event.
How Sight Life makes a difference:
43% of people with sight loss have significant depressive symptoms.
For last 160 years, Sight Life's work has been making a meaningful impact in the lives of local blind and partially sighted people when they need us the most.
We want to keep supporting and evolving the services we offer for the next 160 years but we need your support!
Raising just £160 for Sight Life will allow us to visit a Service User at home to provide essential advice to ensure they can continue to live independently; provide a bespoke session on how to successfully manage living with sight loss and reduce the isolation it imposes; and also run a social group that can become a life-line to our Service Users and gives them a reason to leave home.
The money you raise matters. Thank you for helping us make a difference!
