So, it’s time for me to commit to another slightly crazy adventure in the name of raising money for amazing people who support other amazing people.

After last year’s challenge of walking the Greater Manchester Ringway, a 200 mile route around Greater Manchester in 20 days, I have decided to go a ‘little’ more extreme this time.

So, I’ve decided to condense my new challenge into just 5 days!

My mission this time, to walk from my parent’s house in Knowle, all the way back to Sale (where I now live) along the canal network. A distance of just over 130 miles, which is on average walking a MARATHON a day back to back!

So, after double checking that I haven’t finally lost the plot again, I’m asking for 2 bits of help.

Secondly, and most importantly, of course I’m clearly not doing this for fun! So I’ll be asking for donations towards a very worthwhile charity: Andy’s Man Club.

ANDYSMANCLUB takes its name from Andrew Roberts, a man who sadly took his own life aged 23 in early 2016. Andy’s family had no inkling that he was suffering or struggling to the extent that he would do this, and as a result looked deeper into male suicide and men’s mental health.

They soon discovered that male suicide is the biggest killer of men under 54, with male mental health surrounded by well-ingrained cultural stigma in the UK.

Elaine Roberts and Luke Ambler are Andy’s Mum and Brother-in-Law, together they came up with the idea of ANDYSMANCLUB, a group where men aged 18 and above can speak openly about their mental health in a judgment-free, non-clinical environment.

Groups now operate nationwide and are completely volunteer-led, with all group facilitators having first interacted with ANDYSMANCLUB when they came through the door as a service user.
