Gareth's fundraiser for Our Bolton NHS Charity in memory of Millie 💗

Running a Ultra marathon of 430 miles and 56000ft of elevation · 2 June 2023
It’s that crazy time of year again - time for a run out on the fabulous Southern Upland Way - my happy place. This time it’s a little bit different- I’m going to step straight off my doorstep, run 430 miles and then let myself back in!With 56,000 feet of elevation to be covered it’s a huge challenge but an itch I’ve wanted to scratch for a few years now.As always it’s great to have that added motivation and this year it’s the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Bolton Hospital, inspired by the story of Millie as told by her parents………Millie was born premature on the 27 September 2022 at 22 weeks & 3 days. She fought so valiantly to stay with us as a family but at 5:20am on the 29th October she peacefully passed away in our arms at just 33 days old. We know the medical team went above and beyond what we could have expected and we are extremely grateful to every person who helped look after our baby girl as if she was their own! Without their love, care and dedication we would not have had those precious 33 days together as a family so because of this we've be raising much needed funds for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Bolton Hospital so others can hopefully make it home as a family.Thank you to everyone for your love and support, you have no idea how much that has helped us through this pain and grief we are going through. She will forever be in our hearts and she will forever be a part of our family 💕Fintan O’Malley & Rebecca NealAs well as investing in state of the art equipment and staff training, the charity supports families and friends with what seem to be the simplest of things but these small things help so much. Car parking charges, lunches, providing a comfortable environment to stay over, all small things that can help people focus on what’s important.Â
