The inaugural Clarence Park Walking Marathon

Garry Barone is raising money for Earthworks St Albans

Team: Richard & Garry

Walking a Marathon · 16 September 2026

We nurture people with learning disabilities, known as Earthworkers, through social and therapeutic horticulture to manage 3.5 acres of beautiful eco-gardens. We champion organic methods, wildlife habitats, social inclusion and sustainability. In our eco-gardens, Earthworkers flourish.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Richard Clark and I have been walking and talking our way around Clarence Park, St Albans several days per week for over a year. There was some sort of challenge or even a dare, for us to attempt the full marathon distance (around 50 circuits or so) in one day. So starting at 7:30 on Weds 16/9 we will rise to the challenge. Or try. It may take a while. Loo stops, short breaks for refreshments, injuries and possibly VAR interventions may endanger the planned completion prior to the 7:30pm park closure.

Please have a look at the great work Earthworks, a St Albans based charity and if you can spare a few quid (or bob, even), please do.
