Garry & Jaquine's Freedom Trail Trek for Prostate Cancer Research

GARRY PURCHASE is raising money for Prostate Cancer Research

Trek for Change: PCR's Freedom Trail Trek · 16 September 2025 to 21 September 2025 · Start fundraising for this event

For the first time, a team of PCR's top supporters are taking on the challenge of a lifetime, the Freedom Trail Trek, in a bid to raise £100,000 in the fight for a world free from the impact of the prostate cancer, for every family.

Story

In April 2024, I was diagnosed with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer, stage 3 (T3b N1 M1B), with a Gleason score of 4+5 and a PSA of 4.31. This news changed our lives. My low PSA levels taken from blood tests did not solely indicate the presence of cancer. Aches, pains, and frequent urination aren’t just signs of ageing; they could be something more serious. It wasn’t until further tests, including an MRI, biopsies, and a PMSA PET CT scan, that the full picture emerged.

Since my diagnosis, I’ve undergone hormone therapy injections, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, with ongoing treatment.

Now, Jaquine has joined me in training for the Freedom Trail Trek in the Pyrenees to raise money for Prostate Cancer Research, alongside other fundraising efforts in the lead-up to the trek. Your donation will support vital research to find better treatments and early detection tools, and to campaign for a national screening programme that could catch cancers like mine earlier, saving thousands of lives.

In September 2025, Jaquine and I will join PCR's top supporters on the Freedom Trail Trek in the Pyrenees. Walking in the footsteps of Allied soldiers and Jewish refugees who escaped Nazi-occupied France. Our goal is to raise over £100,000 for life-saving research to ensure that no family is impacted by prostate cancer.

Please consider supporting us by making a donation to this cause.

Your generosity will make a difference.

Thank you so much for your support.
