I have a friend that has the condition, as they may appear perfectly healthy on the outside, they are one of around 11,000 people in the UK living with a life-limiting condition (CF), a rare genetic disorder with no cure.

I am a Platelet Donor and coming up to my 500th donation in 2027. I wanted to plan an event to mark my 500th donation. So my event will be a virtual walk to every Cystic Fibrosis Centre and Blood Donor Centre, this will be over a year as its a total of 1217 miles. As I don't have much free time (as I have other things planned over the year) this will also Including what I walk at work. I have also decided that if I don't manage to walk the the full distance I will walk a Double Marathon event over the weekend of 24th and 25th April 2027.

(My challenge will be to walk two Marathons over the weekend, one on Saturday 24th April and then virtually walk the London Marathon on Sunday 25th April.)

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition which causes sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive system. It affects more than 11,000 people in the UK. One in 25 of us carries the faulty gene that causes it, usually without knowing.
