Garsons Charity of the Year 2025 - Gosport & Fareham Inshore Rescue Service

Garsons story
Garsons is a destination Garden Centre and Farm Shop, a family-run business that is proud to be part of the local community.
Every year we elect, or re-elect, a charity to support. Thanks to the generosity and efforts of our wonderful customers and team, we have managed to raise thousands of pounds over the years for worthwhile local causes.
Garsons Titchfield is delighted to support Gosport & Fareham Inshore Rescue Service as our Charity of the Year 2025/26.
Gosport & Fareham Inshore Rescue Service, or GAFIRS, is an independent lifeboat and inshore rescue service that was founded in 1969. As a declared facility to the UK Coastguard, they provide emergency lifeboat cover to the Eastern Solent and Portsmouth Harbour; within 30 minutes of Garsons Titchfield.
GAFIRS crews maintain everyday jobs, however, when the Coastguard activate a pager call out, they drop everything at a moment’s notice, responding to people in distress; 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and in all weathers.
On average the GAFIRS team respond to 100 incidents per year. This varies from towing-stricken vessels away from danger, to providing lifesaving first aid to critically injured casualties. GAFIRS teams have been awarded national commendations for life saving services to the community, with volunteers committing hundreds of hours each per year to maintain this vital public service.
GAFIRS also provide a wide range of services to the community. These include delivering safety presentations to water sports clubs, accident prevention and beach safety events at schools, promotions at local fairs and fetes, the amazing 999 emergency services day and the highly successful New Years Day Swim.
