CLAPA is a support organisation for all those affected by cleft lip and/or palate. One in 700 children are born with this condition. We provide information, advice, and support through our online events led by staff members and volunteers. Facebook groups, and peer and parent support services.

Story

I’m doing the national 3 peaks challenge in October with a team of friends (Dale Ward, Gary Stephenson, Chris Cookman, Liam Christian) to fundraise for the Cleft Lip And Palate Association (CLAPA).

3 years ago our son was born with a Cleft palate  which wasn’t picked up at birth. When this was eventually diagnosed, it was clear he would require surgery to help fix this problem. CLAPA provided us with so much support during a very difficult time which was invaluable and there are so many families and children that have it much worse than our family did.

The bigger picture is that three babies are born with a cleft lip and/or palate every day in the UK, and they face a 20-year treatment pathway which can continue well into adulthood. The Cleft Lip & Palate Association (CLAPA) is here to make sure no one has to go through this alone.

Now I have the opportunity to be able to give back and help them help many other children and families who find themselves in a similar position. If you could help me on my quest to raise some money I would be most appreciative. This may be monetary if you are able to, or simply a ‘share’ if not in a position donate yourselves. Every little helps and thanks for reading.

Every donation will help CLAPA to continue to provide specialist, targeted services to give people affected by cleft the knowledge and emotional support they need, while their UK-wide community brings together people from all walks of life to share experiences and learn to cope.
