Story
The Cuillen on the Isle of Skye is regarded as the most challenging mountain range in the UK. Whilst the main ridge requires a high level of experience and technical climbing skills to be able to safely traverse, one of the munros "Bla Bheinn" (Blue Mountain) is somewhat easier and can be ascended via a steep trail which climbs over 3000 feet, and requires only a small amount of scrambling.
I'm aiming to climb Bla Bheinn during the May Bank Holiday week in aid of a local charity, the Uig Community Trust. This charity provide the small rural community of Uig on the Isle of Skye with help and support. Initiatives such as the "Kindness Cabin" help reduce food waste by diverting produce that would go to waste to people in need, provides hot meals and company to people in the community, and assists people with warmth and heating. Funds for the village hall help support activities to bring people together and foster community. Other initiatives help support the local environment.
Whilst the climb is not dangerous per se, all of the Cuillen demand respect, and it's not one that is recommended in anything other than calm and settled conditions. If the ascent of Bla Bheinn is not possible this week, then I will do another challenging walk and tackle Bla Bheinn at a later date.
