London to Amsterdam cycle (500km in 4 days) · 22 September 2023
It has been a few years since I did a bigger event for fundraising, last time I swam the English Channel with a 5 other amazing humans. THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all who have supported me back then for your generosity and kindness. :-)
This time, I will be cycling from my company's London Farringdon office to the Amsterdam office with 20 other colleagues as a 4-day self-organised event, raising money for Make-A-Wish that aims to bring joy to children who have been diagnosed with critical health conditions that rob their childhood from them.
We managed to get our company albelli-photobox-group to support the cost of some of our logistics (accommodations, ferry, support van hire, snacks on the ride) while we'll pay for other stuff like transport and meals ourselves.
My goal is to raise £100 for each day of this journey, and the company has agreed to match fund (up to £5,000 - our team's initial target).
- Day 1 (100km): London, UK > Faversham, UK
- Day 2 (120km): Faversham, UK > Dover, UK >
(ferry - I am not swimming the channel this time... LOL)
> Dunkirk, France > Oostende, Belgium
- Day 3 (140km): Oostende, Belgium > Ouddorp, Netherlands
- Day 4 (130km): Ouddorp, Netherlands > Amsterdam, Netherlands
Cycling is something I love doing and I do often, but this will probably be the longest ride I'll have done in consecutive days. Your donation will not only support me through this journey emotionally and mentally, but more importantly it will contribute to granting some children their wishes.
A bit about the charity I am raising money for:
Make-A-Wish traces its inspiration to Christopher James Greicius, an energetic 7-year-old boy battling leukemia who wishes to be a police officer. In 1980, his Phoenix community came together to make his wish come true. Since then, Make-A-Wish has collectively granted more than 500,000 wishes worldwide, but there are many more children waiting for their one true wish to be granted. Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Thank you for supporting us!
Thank you for reading all the way to the end. Please would you be happy to help with a donation?
