Story

Paul Caley is running the London marathon to support my recent Everest trek. Thank you to everyone that donates.

I will be taking on the very challenging trek of 3 Base Camps, 3 Peaks and 3 High Passes over 21 days in the Himalayas of Nepal, starting Sunday 5th March 2023. Some days will be 10-12 hours trekking and at high altitude, where there is less than 50% oxygen at times. Itinerary below.

At the same time, I thought I’d also raise some money for a good cause. A good mate of mine, Shaun Loughran, has been, and still is going through hell with cancer, brain tumour, and cancer again (currently going through chemotherapy again). Shaun remains positive and is an absolute inspiration. I asked Shaun to choose a charity close to his heart, and he chose North Wales Cancer Appeal.

Shaun’s story

I’ve chosen this charity because first and foremost I want our fundraising alone to make a difference. So I decided to choose a small charity, a local charity and a charity that means something to myself.

Being diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2020 and still fighting the fight (see Shaun’s story on my Facebook page Shaun Loughran) I’ve had and still having cancer treatment (chemotherapy) at North Wales cancer centre so I know first-hand how crucial funding can be for this amazing place.

My good, crazy friend Gary Eccleston is really going to be pushing his body to the limit with this extreme challenge he’s set up and 100% funded himself might I add! I feel honoured to have been asked to choose a charity for him and to be involved in helping out with the fundraising for such a great charity.

Please be kind enough to sponsor as much as you can afford. I will be adding photos to my Facebook page during trek (when I have wifi) and Shaun has kindly offered to help with fundraising. Once the trek is completed, I will create a YouTube video and share with you all. Thank you all in advance.
