Story
I’ll be running the Rome marathon on March 16th in memory of my mother in law Mary who died a few years ago of cancer and was cared for at home by Dorothy House carers.
More recently my mate Hugh, who lost his battle last year to oesophageal cancer aged just 57.
The hospice cared brilliantly for his needs right to the end which has made a lasting impression on myself and his family.
Over the last year I have realised that more and more people I know have been helped by Dorothy House . It is also for them and their loved ones that I run but also to them that I appeal to raise what money WE can.
I’m 53 and have raced many triathlons from sprints to Ironman 70.3 and marathons, even ultra marathon over the years so I know how hard it is to train and be the best I can.
I know also the pain and effort to get to the finish. But that pain is minimal compared to what many experience in their last days . I would love my effort to be reflected in the money I raise. With your help I hope I can raise enough to make a small difference.
I acknowledge that money is tight for many and the cost of living only goes one way but as they say every little helps.
My training journey to Rome can be followed on Strava and Instagram. Please be part of my journey.
