Gary's fundraiser for Marie Curie

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
I'm running the London Marathon and Reading Half Marathon in memory of my mum, who passed away from cancer in 2015. These races are not just personal challenges but tributes to her incredible strength and love. Losing her has left a lasting impact, and running in her memory feels like a way to honor her and keep her spirit alive.
I'm also running for Marie Curie because of the immense support they provided during the most difficult time of my life. In my mum's final nights, their nurses came and sat with me, offering comfort and care when I needed it the most. Their compassion helped ease the pain of watching her suffer, and for that, I am forever grateful. Running for them is my way of giving back and helping them continue their vital work for other families in need.
Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone. And we push for a better end of life for all by campaigning and sharing research to change the system.
Marie Curie is a charity working across the UK and we need your support to do our vital work.
