The Hartfield Honey Run · 16 November 2025

The group provides pre-school education for children with special needs from 0-5 years. The special needs include physical disabilities, developmental delay, behavioural and social problems.

Story

On Sunday 16 November 2025, I’ll be taking on the 10K at the Hartfield Honey Run (starts 9:30am) through woodland trails and rolling countryside.

This year, I’m running for a cause close to my heart: Petts Wood Playgroup for Children with Special Needs (Charity No. 803792).

This is the second year im running to raise money for this charity out of gratitude, and the desire to give back. The care, support and patience they gave my son Noah who attended PWPG and to us in those early years meant the world. Running is one small thing I can do in return.

About Petts Wood Playgroup

• Established since 1968, Petts Wood Playgroup is the only setting in the London Borough of Bromley that solely caters to children with additional needs between birth and 5 years.

• It provides a fully inclusive environment, sensory rooms, soft‑play areas, specialist equipment, and a minibus service to collect and drop off children in many local areas.

• Attendance is free for families. The playgroup depends heavily on donations and fundraising to sustain its work — it doesn’t charge fees.

• The special needs they support include physical disabilities, developmental delay, behavioural or social challenges, sensory needs, and more.

• In its most recent Ofsted inspection (March 2022), Petts Wood Playgroup was rated Outstanding.

Because the playgroup is run by a committee and a dedicated team of volunteers, every pound raised goes toward making the daily difference: better equipment, more therapies, transport, staffing, and new initiatives.

My Goal & What Your Support Will Do

Running 10K on trails in November is no easy task — the course is described as undulating with hills and challenging terrain. But every step, every stride will be powered by the knowledge that your support helps children in their earliest, most formative years.

Here’s what your donation could help fund:

• Sensory equipment (e.g. tactile toys, sensory rooms)

• Maintenance and upgrades to the playgroup’s facilities

• Minibus transport so children can attend even if mobility or distance is a barrier

• Training, therapies and support staff

• Daily running costs, so that the playgroup can stay free for families

My aim is to raise £3,000. Even small donations add up. If 50 people give £20, that’s already £1,000 — enough for a new piece of specialist equipment.

How You Can Help

• Donate — any amount helps, and there’s no such thing as “too small.”

• Share my page — with friends, family, neighbours. The more people who see it, the better.

In Memory & In Thanks

When Noah was at Petts Wood Playgroup, we saw firsthand the patience, creativity, kindness and expertise of every staff member and volunteer. That support gave us confidence, hope, and the belief that he could reach new milestones.

Even though he now moves on in his educational journey, the foundation built there mattered. This run is my way of saying “thank you”, not just for Noah, but for every child who comes through their doors now or in the future.

Thank you for reading, for any support you can offer, and for being part of this with me. 🙏
