Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving
Our eldest daughter Jaime died very suddenly of a brain hemorrhage on the 30th April 2002 aged 11 years and 11days. This years race is particularly special, it will be Gary's 11th marathon and Lukes 1st.
Jaimes Fund was set up to initially raise money for Pendlebury Childrens Hospital where Jaime was briefly a patient. Two highly specialised incubators called 'baby pods' were purchased our way of saying thank you for the kindness and compassion shown to both Jaime and all her family.
The fund has since raised over £60k and contributed to a range of projects in the local area, all of which bear Jaimes name. The fund has contributed £12k to create and equip a research centre and library at Woodhouses Primary School where Jaime was a pupil. The fund has also raised money in partnership with Cystic Fibrosis, Key 103's Cash for Kids, Onside Northwest and most recently Make-A-Wish UK
This year Jaimes Fund is proud to partner with Reverse Rett, working to accelerate treatments and a cure for everyone affected by Rett syndrome. Over the last fourteen years, they have invested in high-quality research projects such as the RSRT Gene Therapy and MECP2 Consortia, which have led to the gene therapy programs in clinical trials today.
Luke was a pupil at Xaverian College where a tutor and mentor Phil Drinkwater, sadly lost his son to the condition in 2020. Luke has maintained contact with Judes family, and we are honoured to support such a fantastic cause.
