Story

On Saturday 2nd May, I’ll be taking on a challenge that’s way out of my comfort zone - a tandem skydive from 15,000 feet above the stunning Gower Peninsula in South Wales.

This isn’t something I ever imagined doing; skydiving was most definitely never on my bucket list. But for my birthday last year, my wonderful husband surprised me with a voucher for a tandem skydive from 10,000 feet, partly I think as payback for all the times I’ve gently (perhaps sometimes not so gently!) encouraged him to step outside his comfort zone…

I’m not afraid of heights and love flying, even in tiny planes. But jumping out of one and trusting someone else to make sure the parachute opens safely? That’s always been daunting. However, with this surprise gift I’ve been left with no choice but to literally take the plunge! And since I’m going for it, I figure I may as well go all in. So I’ve upgraded to jump from 15,000 feet - nearly three miles high and the maximum altitude for tandem skydives in the UK. This means I’ll get about 60 seconds of freefall at speeds of up to 125 mph.

I won’t lie, I’m pretty scared! But knowing that this jump will help raise funds for an incredible cause will really help to keep me motivated and make sure I get on (and off!) that plane. That’s why I’m fundraising for Brecon Mind, a fantastic charity supporting people in our local community who are affected by mental health challenges. They also do amazing work to increase understanding and raise awareness.

All costs for the skydive have been covered by me and Andy, so every penny you donate will go directly to Brecon Mind. Your generosity will make a real difference.

Please consider supporting me on this adventure by donating whatever you can towards my target of £1,000.

Thank you so much in advance for your kindness and support, it’s hugely appreciated.
