Story
Like many people, I've watched in horror at what has been happening in Ukraine. I wanted to help in some way.....any way I could. Whilst researching exactly how, a couple of years ago I happened upon the charity Convoy4Ukraine (https://www.convoy4ukraine.com/). Shortly after, I picked up the phone to main man Tom, and my mind was made up before putting the phone down that I was going to help.
I like what Convoy4Ukraine do, and their way of getting humanitarian aid into the country. They buy 4 x 4 vehicles and fill them with a variety of items - from generators to clothes - drive them to Ukraine and leave EVERYTHING there. Vehicles and all. I like the simplicity and purity of this. It seems like a fantastic way of maximising the efficiency with which one can help. The vehicles themselves are used for the distribution of aid, as well as the evacuation of people from different regions.
In June I'm cycling from the most Westerly point on UK mainland - Ardnamurchan Point Lighthouse - to the most easterly - Lowestoft. It's a 637 mile diagonal swoosh across the country. I've set my fundraising target at £637, or a pound raised for every mile ridden. This is a self supported ride, so all money donated will go to Convoy4Ukraine. I'll be camping along my route, so I'll be carrying everything I need for the journey.
Please check out what Convoy4Ukraine do following the url link above. They also have a shop where you can buy some funky shirts and tops. I'll probably blog on the trip and will post a link to it here before I leave.
Thanks for your support. It really does mean the world.
