Walking from Ipswich Wanderers to Cambridge City · 3 April 2025

St Elizabeth Hospice improves life for people with a progressive illness. Our work centres around individual needs, with specialist support, wherever required, at home, in the community or at the hospice. Each year the hospice needs to generate £12.9m, of this 70% comes from the local community.

EDIT - This will now be a joint effort between Gary Slade and Dan Beaumont!

As the time of year comes around for what would have been Jamie Slade's 40th Birthday, we thought we should do some sort of physical challenge in his memory to help raise funds for a valuable cause.

As those who know us well, not only do we love Football, but we love following non-league football, specifically Ipswich Wanderers in Gary's case. So then we had a crazy idea. Why not combine these two and undertake a near 52 mile walk to follow the Wanderers away at the UK's newest Non-League football stadium, vs Cambridge City?

Just going on the train would be boring. So we're setting ourselves a challenge of walking there.

As 19 Hours walking in a day would be ridiculous, we are planning to set off on Thursday 3rd April, starting from Ipswich Wanderers FC, with the plan to arrive before kick off at the FWD-IP Community Stadium in Sawston, Cambridge before kick off on Saturday 5th April. Our intended route will take us past Hadleigh, towards Haverhill before finishing up in South Cambridge. With some potential "rest stops" along the way at a few village establishments.

All food and hotel expenses will be paid by ourselves, ensuring all funds raised here go to St Elizabeth Hospice, a brilliant and worthy local Charity.

Forza Wanderers!
