English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues Team is thrilled to announce an upcoming challenge raising money to support disadvantaged children and young people. We aim to enable them to experience transformative day camps and residentials at one of Europe’s premier outdoor centres.

We will be taking part in the Lakeside Dragon Boat Regatta on the 12th July 2025. Organised by the YMCA Lakeside in partnership with Kendal Rotary Club.

Dragon Boat Racing is a high-energy, adrenaline-fueled water sport. Teams race in long, ornate boats, each featuring beautifully carved dragon heads and tails. Up to 16 paddlers sit in pairs, paddling in unison to the beat of a drummer, while a professional helmsperson steers from the stern. Races cover distances of approximately 200m, requiring both power and precision. Rooted in ancient Chinese tradition, Dragon Boat Racing has become one of the world’s fastest-growing water sports, widely recognized for its team-building benefits and popularity among corporate and charity.

This will be the ultimate team challenge while making a positive difference to the lives of local children and young adults.
