Gary's first marathon for Mind

adidas Manchester Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
On 27 April 2025, I will be running my first – and hopefully only – marathon to raise money for Mind.
With 1 in 4 people in the UK experiencing a mental health condition each year, Mind provides vital services to help individuals manage conditions such as anxiety, depression and schizophrenia.
Mind also advocates for better mental health services and works to reduce stigma, ensuring people receive the respect and care they deserve.
Mind’s work benefits not only those experiencing mental health issues but also their families and communities. The charity empowers individuals to take control of their well-being, offering advice, treatment guidance, and coping strategies.
Your donation to Mind helps fund these crucial services, from confidential advice to local peer support groups. By supporting Mind, you’re making a real difference to the lives of thousands, helping to challenge stigma and improve mental health care for all.
Since I started running five years ago, I've ticked off half-marathons in Bristol, Brighton, Bournemouth, Cardiff, Lisbon and Prague, but my dodgy 44-year-old knees have never run further than that.
With the support of my excellent coach, Hugh, at Team Agile, I'm confident I can complete the 26.2 miles and we can raise some money for this incredible charity and help them change a few people's lives.
