Story
Hello, my name is Gary and I’ve been inspired to take part in a Peak District Ultra Challenge in July 2026, in aid of DEBRA, the national charity supporting those directly affected by, and working with, Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) – a potentially fatal skin condition that causes constant pain due to unstoppable internal and external blistering. DEBRA provides lifelong care and support to the entire EB community.
Like a lot of people, I had never heard of EB, until the day I stumbled across this video on YouTube:
https://youtu.be/BrRZ4XD1nSE?si=dbubdd2Ij3UjJOaJ
It is a hard watch, but brings home the reality of what it is like to live and grow up with a condition like EB.
I would like nothing more than to be able to support John Hudson directly, but I made the decision that the best way I can help is to support an organisation like DEBRA, which is one of the largest funders of research into EB treatments and cures. I have therefore become a regular donor to the charity and will be undertaking this, my first fundraising challenge, with all donations going to DEBRA.
So in aid of this very worthy cause I will be attempting to walk a 100km course through the Peak District in 24hrs, non-stop, starting at 8:30am on Saturday 4th July 2026.
I would massively appreciate if you could donate to help me support the amazing work that DEBRA does.
Thank you.
Together we #FightEB and together we will beat EB.
