Story
On Saturday 30th May to Sunday 31st May, I will be taking part in the West Highland Way ultra marathon race. This event will see me run the entire length of the WHW (North to South), where I will run from Fort William to Milngavie, which is a distance of 96 miles. The race starts 10am at the WHW Sign in Fort William and finishes at the Fraser Centre' (yellow brick building) 50m South of the WHW obelisk in Milngavie Town Centre.
This is a mammoth task but one I am happy to take on in order to raise funds to support my local drama group, Monklands Light Opera (MLO). Theatre has always been a large part of my life, and I would not be the person I am today were it not for clubs such as MLO.
As a theatre group, MLO proudly embraces a welcome to all approach for our members, with many members being neuro-divergent and who live with autism, ADHD or depression. Fundraising is a key part of all local community groups and allows us to continue supporting people who wish to stretch their personal or social skills in a safe and vibrant environment.
Fundraising could also support with production costs which grow each year due to increasing prices, which then impacts our ability to highlight our club to the local community with each annual production costing between £15k - £20k. Not to be dramatic (pun intended) but events like this can often be the difference between a local community group being able to continue for another year.
