Story
Hiya!
I am running the Royal Parks Half-Marathon this October on behalf of my partner Amy Hallam, who has been on a journey with Breast Cancer since the beginning of the year. I am raising money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity - who have been responsible for Amy's treatment and taking the best possible care of her every step of the way. This is an outstanding organization who greatly deserve your donation.
A message from Amy:
"In December, when I stopped breastfeeding, I had a weird stretch mark which was covering a lump and it wasn’t the benign kind.
My local hospital could not offer me anything but a single mastectomy which didn’t feel very sexy at 36 and they had also waited three months to offer me this conclusion, going over NHS recommended timelines for a cancer diagnosis.
As my mental and physical health deteriorated, I was lucky enough to get a referral through a friend of a friend to a surgeon at The Royal Marsden. That first day in her office, I was told that they were willing to take me on, that they would save my breasts and that they would start everything within 2 short weeks. They also promised they would look after me through all my post treatment including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and the most up to date hormone treatments.
The gratitude I have for every person that works at The Royal Marsden is indescribable and I am so happy that Gav, Leonie and Juraj are doing this run to give back a little and to most importantly fund RM to help more people in the future.
Thanks so much to everyone for donating!
Love Ames
