On September the 24th 2023 , at Marlow Rugby Club, I will attempt to row a marathon 26.2 miles, on a Concept 2 Erg non-stop.

For those of you who know me I am not an elite rower ( in fact I have never rowed a boat in my life). I’m just a rotund, bald, beer swigging, 50-year-old family man, so it’s not going to be easy. However , I am up for the challenge.

I have been inspired to take on this challenge by my friend and fellow parent Clifford Giles.

Cliff has been fighting an ongoing battle with cancer for a few years, whilst still trying to be the best dad & husband he can possibly be.

An inspiration, Cliff is a real fighter.

I have witnessed both him, & his family, battle back with real heart & determination from several setbacks, to ensure he is still around to continue making memories with his friends & family.

After conversations with Cliff, he has nominated Thames Hospice as his chosen charity . The Thames Hospice continue to provide Cliff, and his family, with compassionate, first-class support & specialist palliative care.

In order to help me get through , what I anticipate being, a gruelling personal challenge, please do consider digging deep and donating to this important charity.

Of course, on the day I will post a couple of Facebook Live videos to show you how I am progressing over the course of the marathon.
