Full Head Shave · 21 June 2025

As the East Midlands’ only hospice for children and young people, we brighten the short lives of babies, children and young people who come to Rainbows. We want them to have fun and make special memories. We are also here to support their loved ones through the most difficult times of their lives.

Story

Support Gav as he goes bald for Rainbows!

Our very own Gav from ADS Laser Cutting is shaving it all off to raise money for Rainbows Hospice, and we couldn’t be prouder!

He's braving the clippers to help bring support, care, and smiles to children and families who need it most. Every penny raised goes directly to Rainbows – and every donation makes a difference.

Please help us support Gav and this amazing cause by donating whatever you can.

"'What better reason to finally part ways with 20 years of hair and 10 years of beard than to support an incredible cause? I figured if I’m going to do something drastic, it might as well make a difference. As they say, ‘Go big or go home".

On a serious note I have chosen Rainbows as its our works charity of the year and after visiting their site in Loughborough I cant think of a more deserving cause. They do amazing work for children with incurable and degenerative conditions which unfortunately ends up being palliative care however, they have a dedicated their center and careers to giving children with these conditions the best life they can. They focus on the everyday things that the rest of us take for granted.

I was particularly impressed with the way they dedicate as much support if not more to the families of the ill children. They try and give their loved ones the time and commitment they need to not only prepare them for the devastating inevitable but also build memories with their children though activities. They support the siblings though counseling, family activities and solo activities including respite care which allows families to concentrate, if only for a short time, on the health member of the family.

While they do have their center in Loughborough they have also started an outreach program which aims to offer their specialist service to families that are unable to attend their center though house visits to things as simple as support groups for parent going though a similar experience to meet and talk through their issues and support each other.
