Story
I’m running the London Marathon in April 2026 for Street Child – and I’d love your support.
I recently became a Dad and its made me think a bit more about every child's right to feel safe and to have the chance to go to school and learn.
I was lucky growing up in Ireland – school and security were a given. For millions of children around the world, especially in war zones and disaster-hit countries, they’re not.
Street Child works in some of the toughest places on earth to make sure children are safe, in school and learning – by supporting families, building and rebuilding schools, and training teachers so education doesn’t stop when crisis hits.
Preparing for 26.2 miles will mean lots early starts and long runs in the dark for me through winter… but it’s for a great cause.
If you’re able to sponsor my London Marathon – whatever the amount – I’d be hugely grateful.
- £10 could provide a learning kit, including basic stationary and textbooks, for a child living in conflict in Nigeria
- £20 could help train a community-based case worker to protect Rohingya refugee girls from sexual, physical and psychological abuse in Bangladesh
- £50 could send a child to school for a year in Sierra Leone
- £80 could provide a child in Nigeria, who has been associated with an armed group, with mental health and psychological support for a month to help them reintegrate into the community
- £250 could provide a vulnerable house with business training and a start-up grant to rebuild a dignified livelihood in South Sudan - on average each business grant supports 2 children to return to school
Thank you.
