Story
On 9th April 2025, my dad was in an accident that almost cost him his life. If it wasn’t for the fast acting children that found him notifying my sister of the accident then Kayleigh and her children (Rorey & Scarlett) reacting fast to call emergency services & me. The emergency services professionalism that helped retrieve my dad who had his Range Rover roll onto him and crush him as he lay underneath it.
They did life saving procedures on the scene which involved them making incisions in both sides of his chest to get to his lungs and inflate them- he was bleeding internally and the blood was crushing his lungs with 13 fractured ribs & a fracture to his spine. They also did a blood transfusion on scene too, as well as performing CPR for over 40 minutes - They did not give up on my dad no matter how tiring it was pumping his chest! They believed in him. Dad was too critical for air travel despite the air ambulance landing and being on standby, instead they took him on a journey down the M1 to the best hospital for him with the trauma air ambulance medics on board.
The fantastic team in Adult Intensive Care unit at the Queens Medical Centre Nottingham have been amazing not only with dad but with all of the family too, offering continuous support where needed, plenty of information about things they are doing and when.
My dad spent 4weeks in ICU and had to undergo multiple life saving procedures, constant tests and supervisions and treatments to enable him to still be here with us today.
Our dad, grandpa, my mums husband, brother & friend. Dad has a big community around him whether it be family, friends, colleagues from dhl or his football family at Leicester ladies where he manages an U14s team we all cannot wait for him to be back where he belongs doing what he loves and continuing to progress in the right direction.
It’s been a journey, we’ve still got a journey to go but the incredible doctors, nurses, physios and more at the queens medical saved my dads life and we will be forever grateful for everyone involved as dad now starts his journey in the brain injury specialist rehab unit at LGH.
So on Saturday 6th September 2025 @12 o’clock I will be abseiling 100ft down the side of one of the uks largest hospital to raise money for the AICU ward ( Adult intensive care unit) if anyone wants to come on the day to support and watch feel free
Thank you
