Donations to the Great North Childrens Hospital Foundation support the many children and their families who come to our hospital for treatment and care, making their experience the best it possibly can be.

Innovations that really make a difference to our patients and staff including life changing research, cutting-edge equipment and technology are funded by donations along with initiatives to support the wellbeing and development of our staff.

Evidence shows that children have a quicker recovery when they are in an environment they enjoy and we strive to make GNCH as welcoming and friendly as it can be.

In memory of our beautiful Maya, we are holding Maya’s Charity Football Match to raise money for the Children’s Hospital in Newcastle, a place that cares for children and families during some of the most difficult moments imaginable.

We want the money raised from this event to make a difference in two very special ways.

Part of the funds will help provide memory boxes and meaningful items to go inside them for families who sadly experience the loss of a child. When a family is facing an unimaginable tragedy, these precious keepsakes can help them hold onto memories that will last a lifetime. Nothing can take away their pain, but we hope these boxes can provide even a small amount of comfort during the darkest of times.

We would also like part of the money raised to support staff wellbeing days.

The doctors, nurses and other members of staff working within children’s services care for children and support families through incredibly difficult and sometimes devastating circumstances. They are there for families on days that will stay with them forever, but those experiences affect the people providing that care too.

We want them to know that they matter too, and their wellbeing matters.

This football match is being held in Maya’s memory, but through her memory we hope to bring a little comfort to other families and give something back to the incredible people who are there to support them when they need it most.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us make a difference.
