Story

Over the last few months Macmillan and the Belfast City Cancer Centre have been an invaluable resource to us

So this year I am committing to complete 1 challenge each month to raise awareness and much needed funds for these 2 charities, from running to swimming to cycling to hiking

100% of funds raised will be donated to these charities. I will be covering any costs involved in completing these challenges, for example entry fees , travel expenses etc

In January I hosted a Class-A-Thon at Larne Leisure Center. 4x45 min classes, challenging everyone as well as having fun, There was also plenty of buns , tea and coffee to keep everyone going.

In February I completed a 10 minute open water swim each day. The coldest day was -3 air temperature and 4 degrees in the water. On the last Sunday of February we had a group 'Down dog and dip' session. Sinead from LARC took us through a 30 minute Pilates class where we then entered the sea for 10 minute dip , with tea and coffee after to warm everyone up.

In March I travelled to Glasgow and competed in the Hyrox competition, finishing the course in 1hour 23 min

April's challenge was the Omagh Half Marathon, I could not get a place for the race so entered the Larne 10 mile race instead , then got a place for Omagh so did both, sure why not!! Omagh competed on 6th April in 1hr 45 and Larne on the 12th finishing in 1hr 21

May was the Crossfit WOD Murph which took place at Alpha Bravo fitness in Kesh Fermanagh . This workout consists of a1 mile run, 100 pull ups , 200 push ups 300 air squats finishing with a mile run. My finishing time for this was 40.09 minutes

In June myself , Julie, Kelly, Trevor and Shirley took part in the MacMillian Mighy Hike at the Giants Causeway. 26miles along the stunning causeway coast, this route took us over 9 hours to completed and thankfully the weather was kind to us

In July I swam 10,500meters in the Lough Erne Fermanagh. Leaving from Lusty Begs intowards Kesh and back, taking 4.5 hours

August . 8 day hike at the Dolomites , Italy

September , 8 day hike at Mont Blanc

October, The ROC triathlon, 1.5km swim, 27km cycle, 8.7km up Ben Nevis, 8.7km back down , 27km cycle and 1.5km run to finish

I’ll update this when I have November and December confirmed
