Gemma’s Birdie Pledge for Alzheimer’s Society Forget Me Not Appeal

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

As an Alzheimer's Society Sport Champion, this week I am once again pledging to donate £20 per birdie I make during the Meijer LPGA Classic and KPMG Women’s PGA Championship to support the Alzheimer’s Society’s Forget Me Not Appeal which runs throughout June.

My grandmother was diagnosed with dementia in 2020, so I have seen first-hand how dementia affects not just the person but their families and loved ones too. She was always there to watch me play sport, playing a hugely important role in my life so I'm really proud to be a Sport Champion and use my platform to make a difference to others affected.

Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. 1 in 3 people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime. It affects all of us – and that’s why every Forget Me Not has its own meaning. Yours might be about your mum, dad or a dear friend – or perhaps it means helping to fund life-changing support. Whatever your story, your donation helps fund support for people living with dementia today, and research that could mean a brighter future for people who may face it tomorrow.
