Gemma's Ultra Challenge fundraiser for Libraries Unlimited

South West Coast 50 Challenge · 5 August 2023 ·
Last August I completed a 25k loop of the South West Coast 50 Ultra Challenge which took in the first Minehead section of the famous 630 mile coastal path and a ridiculous amount of elevation. There just happened to be a storm that day so we had to also battle gale force winds, torrential rain and A LOT of mud!
I have just completed a 58k ultra marathon along the Jurassic Coast from Corfe Castle to Weymouth. With over 5500 feet of elevation, a serious amount of mud (again) and a big old storm complete with hail I think I'm due a few days to recover!
Finally, I will be taking on the epic Race to the Stones, a 100k ultra marathon in July, which consists of back to back 31 mile runs over two days.
I am running to raise money for Libraries Unlimited as I want to give something back to the library service that has been a big part of our lives for some time.
I have made lots of crochet animals for donations which takes up a fair bit of time alongside training, studying, raising a young family, and a change of career, so any donations that people can spare are very gratefully received!
Libraries Unlimited's Vision is 'Enriching Lives, Building Communities'.
As the charity responsible for running 54 libraries across Devon and Torbay, we serve around 1 million people to:
- reduce literacy inequalities
- combat social inequality
- help develop skills for life
- combat isolation and support wellbeing
Every penny we raise goes back into developing our services.
Thank you!
