Home to Home Challenge for The Sick Children's Trust

The day after Jack, my son was born he was rushed to Sheffield hospital for life saving surgery. It was an extremely scary time and we had no idea what the future was going to hold for our new little family.
We thought we had two options.
1- Commute from Hull to Sheffield every day. This would mean leaving Jack overnight, we'd be an hour away if something bad happened and we needed to get to the hospital. I knew I'd worry every minute I wasn't with him. I was also recovering from an emergency C-section, so the drive was extremely painful. Also the complications in making sure there was always a breast milk supply in Sheffield, and the fuel costs.
2- Get a hotel in Sheffield. This would be a much more expensive option but we would be closer if something happened and for milk supply. We had no idea how long we'd be in Sheffield and only had a limited amount of money set aside - we were very worried we would run out of money with this option.
However, we were extremely lucky to find out there was a third option. The Sick Children’s Trust were able to provide us with a room, with everything we could possibly need. We were attached to the hospital so we could be with Jack all day, and I was with him every two hours overnight feeding him. We had a communal shower and kitchen meaning we didn't have to rely on takeaways. Everything was so clean and everyone so lovely. The moment we were given this and I felt a sigh of relief knowing I could just concentrate on Jack, not having to worry about other things. I knew straight away that I would one day try and raise money to pay back our stay, and hopefully more.
