I am running the Cambridge Half Marathon for Petals, the baby loss counselling charity. They provide specialist counselling for women, men and couples who have suffered the devastating loss of a pregnancy or death of a baby.

As some of you know, Adam and I benefited hugely from the support of Petals after we suffered a twin miscarriage in 2021. Our counsellor helped us navigate a really difficult time and we were incredibly grateful for the support we received.

Unfortunately, the following year we experienced another miscarriage. This time we were unable to have counselling sessions with Petals. They sadly don’t have enough funding to support everyone who reaches out for help.

Since then, we have been lucky enough to have Teddy who is so loved by us all. Without the support of Petals, I am not sure we would have been brave enough to try again so we will be forever indebted to them.

This year, I have been involved in the latest Petals campaign ‘The Missing 20’ which highlights just how many people are unable to access the support they so desperately need.

I am not a natural runner and have never run over 10km before so the Half Marathon is going to be a massive challenge. Any support you can give would be greatly appreciated.

It is a sad reality that in the UK, 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, 1 in 200 babies will be stillborn every year, over 5000 pregnancies will be terminated for medical reasons each year, and 24 babies die shortly after birth every single week.

Petals delivers hundreds of counselling sessions every month. Each session costs Petals £80, I would like my sponsorship to fund as many sessions as possible, so many more parents can be supported. So every donation counts!
