I'm taking on the 24 Peaks Challenge to raise funds for Christian Family Concern, which is currently rebranding as Birdhurst Family - rooted and grounded in love.

I’ll be trekking for 12 hours each day, covering around 28 miles over the weekend – with around 12,500ft of total ascent, the 24 Peaks challenge is one of the UK’s most demanding adventures. Apparently once you've completed the classic 3 Peaks, then this has to be the next challenge.........

This challenge is particularly meaningful to me because my Dad is the Charity Director. Through him, I've seen the passion, commitment, and care that goes into supporting families and individuals who need it most. I know how much this new building will mean to the people who rely on Birdhurst Family's services, and I wanted to play my part in helping make that vision a reality. I was aiming for £1,000 but Dad reckons I should aim for £1,000 per peak so here you go - it is a very ambitious target!!

The funds raised will support Birdhurst Family's new purpose-built building, creating a welcoming space where families can access life-changing support through three key services:

1. Birdhurst Family Housing – supported accommodation for vulnerable young mothers and their babies, continuing the charity's original mission established in 1893.

2. Birdhurst Family Nursery – high-quality childcare for children aged three months to five years, providing an essential service for local families while helping to sustain the charity's wider work.

3. Birdhurst Counselling – affordable, one-to-one counselling available to anyone, regardless of faith or background. Their trained counsellors support people facing a wide range of challenges, including addiction, anxiety, bereavement, depression, emotional and psychological difficulties, redundancy, and relationship and couples issues.

The 24 Peaks Challenge will push me physically and mentally, but every step I take will help Birdhurst Family continue providing these vital services and move closer to opening a new building where even more people can find hope, support, and a fresh start. Rooted and grounded in love
