Gemma's fundraiser for Wyfold Riding for the Disabled

Gemma Watson is raising money for Wyfold Riding for the Disabled

100km cycle at Night · 9 May 2026

Wyfold RDA is an independent charity that provides horse riding facilities for people with physical or mental disabilities located within the south Oxfordshire and Reading areas. For those unable to ride, carriage driving is also available.

Story

I thought that I should head to the gym in Jan 2026….and it didn’t happen. However, as soon as I clicked on Riding 100km in aid of this fantastic charity I seem to have been in the gym pretty much every day since!

This Just Giving page is to fundraise for Wyfold Riding for the Disabled, a charity that has been established for the last 55 years and offers riding, driving and pony therapy to participants of all ages with additional needs .

This amazing charity helps individuals to improve muscle tone & strengthen their core; build self-confidence & self-esteem; form new friends and to feel accepted. Participants can work towards Endeavour awards, and some participants even go on to compete in National competitions.

Wyfold RDA is totally reliant on volunteers, fundraising and the generosity from donations and grant applications. It costs £80,000-00 each year to simply run the charity with the upkeep of the ponies, vet’s bills, farrier bills & feed bills etc. This year they are facing more challenging times as their current 30-year-old facilities are creaking, leaking and swaying in the breeze and they need to fund repairs to the meeting room & tack room (£60,000-00), renew the hay barn roof (£12,000-00) and buy a new pony (£12,000-00). All this on top of their annual running costs.

The bond that forms between horse and rider and the benefits it brings both physically and mentally is priceless.

I would be truly grateful if you are able to contribute towards this amazing charity and to help alleviate some of the financial stress that 2026 seems to be bringing.

Today’s generosity is tomorrow’s change.

Please feel free to share with any family, friends, businesses or contacts you may have & help me to smash my target.

I am hoping on May 9th for a dry, flat or preferably downhill route with a massage at the end!! But in the likelihood that's not the case I simply hope my knees hold up, my broken rib has healed and that I raise lots of money for a charity very close to my heart.

THANK YOU

Gemma xx
