Gemma's fundraiser for AberNecessities

Gemma Watt is raising money for AberNecessities

Aberdeen Kiltwalk 2026 · 7 June 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

On Sunday 7th June, amazing supporters of AberNecessities will take on the challenge of either The Mighty Stride (18 miles) or The Wee Wander (4 miles) at the Aberdeen Kiltwalk.

Story

Myself and Craig will be donning Oor tartan this year & taking part in the kilt walk, this will involve walking 18 miles on the 7th June. I have chosen to do this in aid of AberNecessities.

Having grown up with my Mum spending her career as a children and families social worker and my sister following in her footsteps going into the same profession also working with families in need, I am aware of the hardships many individuals face, whether that’s due to generational poverty, trauma, domestic abuse, mental health including undiagnosed health conditions, along with stigma, inappropriate housing, or neglect.

I have heard about the positive impact AberNecessities has on families and children facing hardship and challenges. They provide essential supplies, including food, furniture, gas and electric etc for these people and children.

I also see first hand in my role as a MH nurse the devastating impact substances, trauma, neglect, crime and poverty has on individuals mental and physical health and how charities like AberNecessities can provide hope, kindness & practical essentials for families facing hardship.

AberNecessities is a local charity supporting underprivileged families in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. We provide families with essential items to care for their babies and children to help alleviate some of the pressure of bringing up a young family with limited resources.

We are dedicated to ensuring basic needs are met and provide items such as formula milk, nappies, toiletries, clothes and cots.

Every penny of your donation goes towards buying items which are then given directly to families.
