Geoff Fisher is raising money for British Heart Foundation

20-Mile Walk · 28 September 2025

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!

Its that time of year again that we all have to decide if that “little stroll” in September is achievable and there is enough of us willing to participate in the 28th addition of the Armathwaite challenge to make it worthwhile!!

This year after receiving some feed-back and comments, I am proposing Sunday 28th September to try again to support the British Heart foundation and raise additional funds for them, can you please let me know if any of you are willing to give up this Sunday and walk with me to generate much needed money for the BHF to enable them to continue to support people suffering from heart related issues and vital research.

Again, listening to comments and opinions, I would suggest we keep to the route that we have walked these last two years , if anyone would like to propose an alternative route, we are more than happy to listen to any ideas and suggestions.

As always, there is the option to walk either the full 20-mile route or the first 10-miles or join us at Armathwaite and walk the last 10-miles, please can you let me know your preferred option if any.

Last year we had some tremendous support with the number of people participating on the 10 & 20 mile walks and also the backup kindly supporting the walkers during the day, the funds we raised last year for the BHF broke all records, the final amount handed over to the BHF was £9,268.80 pushing the overall total generated over the years to £80,483.55 – These funds for the British Heart Foundation would not have happened without your continued support/participation over all these years – A huge thank you from the BHF and myself.

So, after saying all the above, what’s your thoughts for Sunday 28th September and let’s SMASH that £100k barrier together!!
