In memory of Geoff Parkin

In August 2026, we very sadly lost our colleague and friend, Geoff Parkin.

Geoff worked alongside CDS for many years, predominantly supporting the Office of Government Property and its ePIMS / InSite platform. Although technically an external contractor, nobody who worked with Geoff really thought of him that way. He was simply part of the team.

When Geoff died, his son Abe shared something with us that captured him rather beautifully: "Dad loved work more than anything, it's all he thought about and loved it!"

Geoff's family didn't hold a traditional funeral, in keeping with his wishes. Instead, they encouraged everyone who knew him to celebrate his life in whatever way felt right.

So that's exactly what we're going to do...

On Sunday 20th September, colleagues and friends from CDS and the Office of Government Property will come together in Northumberland for A walk for Geoff, taking on a five-mile circular walk along Hadrian's Wall, close to Hexham where Geoff lived.

We'll walk, talk, undoubtedly share plenty of stories about Geoff, and then raise a glass to him afterwards.

Along the way, we'd like to raise some money for Northumberland Wildlife Trust, supporting the landscape and wildlife of the part of the world Geoff called home.

There's no expectation for anyone to donate, and no amount is too small. If you would like to contribute, however, it would mean a great deal to everyone taking part.

Most importantly, this is simply our way of remembering a friend and colleague who was part of our lives for many years and who, as his family reminded us, got an enormous amount of happiness from the work and people around him.
