Story
We sadly lost our son, Jimmy, in October 2023 after he suffered a cardiac arrest at our flat in Surbiton and stopped breathing.
Following quick intervention by the emergency services, Jimmy’s heart was restarted in the ambulance on the way to Kingston Hospital before he was transferred to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at St George’s Hospital in Tooting.
Jimmy fought so bravely over the next few days but sadly he was too ill to recover and went to sleep for the final time in our arms in PICU at St George’s.
We were devastated to have lost him so soon, but so grateful to have known our beautiful little boy for seven wonderful weeks. His big brother, Arthur, still talks about ‘Baby Jim Jim’ every day.
Jimmy gave the best cuddles and was most at home curled up on his mummy and daddy’s shoulder, like a little monkey.
We want to pass on Jimmy’s cuddles to other families whose children may be ill or to those parents, like us, who have lost their child.
One way we’re aiming to do this is in support of the ‘Time for a Change Appeal’, which aims to raise 5-million pounds to transform children’s services at St George’s – where Jimmy received such excellent care.
We’re planning a number of fund raising events in 2024 as part of our bid to help with the appeal - and make sure Jimmy’s memory lives on.
We're delighted to announce our first fundraising event of the year - a pub quiz at the Waggon & Horses in Surbiton on Wednesday 1st May, starting at 8pm https://thewaggonsurbiton.co.uk/
It's open for teams of up to 6 people (with a £5 per person entry fee) and there'll be a prize for the winner. There will also be a chance to win in our charity raffle and auction! We can't wait to see you there in support of #jimmyscuddle
To buy a ticket simply donate £5 and leave us a message to let us know you're coming.
