Story
I’m running the Brighton Marathon 2026 to raise money for APS Support UK. This charity provides vital support and information for people affected by APS, and any contribution can make a real difference.
I’ve chosen to support APS Support UK because my father has APS. After his diagnosis, they were incredibly helpful in giving him clear, reliable information about the condition, which made a big difference in helping him understand and manage it.
APS is estimated to affect around 1 in 2000 people and is a relatively rare autoimmune disorder. Because of this, there is still a lot to learn about its causes, effects, and treatments, and continued research is essential.
Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune condition where the body produces antibodies that increase the risk of blood clots in veins and arteries. It can lead to serious complications such as deep vein thrombosis, stroke, and pregnancy-related issues including miscarriages and preeclampsia. Treatment often involves long-term anticoagulants like warfarin or heparin, and in pregnancy, a combination of low-dose aspirin and heparin can help improve outcomes.
I’ve set a target of £500 to support the work of APS Support UK. Any donation, no matter the size, is hugely appreciated—thank you for your support.
