In 2020, during one of the toughest chapters of our lives facing mental health struggles and long days of isolation, while my partner worked as a key worker, we made a life-changing decision: we adopted a senior cat. He was 13 years old, full of quirks, and living with multiple health issues. We wanted to give him a loving retirement home… but he gave us so much more.

I’d always considered myself a dog person, but this sweet old soul completely changed my perspective. He brought light, comfort, and companionship into our home during some of the darkest days. When he passed away in 2023, we were heartbroken but we took solace in knowing he spent his final years safe, loved, and spoiled.

Since then, we’ve committed ourselves to supporting cat charities, especially those helping the overlooked, the older, and the misunderstood. In early 2024, we opened our hearts again this time to a bonded pair: a bold 3 year old calico and a mischievous 6 month old black kitten. They've filled our lives with laughter, love, and chaos and reminded us just how much animals bring to our lives.

Now, we want to give back.

I’m raising funds for the RSPCA, an organisation that has been rescuing animals from cruelty, fighting for their rights, and changing the world for them for over 200 years. Their work makes life better not just for animals, but for people too because a kinder world for animals is a kinder world for us all.
