Story
Refugee Rescue is a search and rescue operation for migrants in distress at sea.
Embarking on the rescue vessel 'Sea Eye 4' our dedicated team takes to the seas.
Mo Chara ("My Friend"), our rescue RHIB rigged upon Sea Eye 4, is purposefully designed to swiftly transport individuals to safety. In a powerful collaboration with fellow rescue NGO Sea Eye, our crew and vessel stand ready to provide crucial aid to those facing distress on the perilous Central Mediterranean route. Together, we extend a helping hand to those in need, ensuring that no one is left behind in their desperate struggle for survival at sea.
More than 2,500 refugees died in the Mediterranean Sea in 2022, adding to the horrifying tally of almost 30,000 deaths since 2014.
In October 2023, I'll be joining Refugee Rescue for a month-long distress mission 20 miles off the coasts of Libya and Tunisia.
The work is physically and emotionally demanding, with long hours spent searching for survivors and pulling people to safety. But despite the challenges, the crew remains committed to their mission, knowing that every life they save is a precious gift.
The Mediterranean seizes the lives of thousands every single year (see statistics here). But with your support, we can help Sea Eye 4 continue her life-saving work, providing vital equipment, training, and support that ensures they can face even the toughest scenes.
Together, let us strive to make this vision a reality, ensuring that every life is valued and protected.
