Story
At the end of April earlier this year, after a long illness, my mum Sam Lewis passed away at the age of 52. This was by far, the hardest, most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever had to go through. My life was completely put on hold and I spent all the time I could with my mum towards the end of her life.
However, in her last 3 weeks, she was moved from hospital to Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice. The team not only cared for my mum, but they cared for me too, they allowed me to stay with mum every night until her last day. They spent time talking with mum, making her feel special and calm at all times. They were always available to chat to me, if I had any questions, concerns or fears. They went above and beyond for my mum, myself and anyone else who came to visit.
I know that without their support, those three weeks would’ve been much more painful, for mum and myself.
As they are a charity, the hospice need donations to keep doing the amazing job that they did with my family and I’m sure many others.
That is why I am running the Loch Ness Marathon this September, in her memory, every penny of the money raised will go to the hospice so they can continue doing the amazing job they do.
Thank you,
George❤️
