Story
The Coast to Coast walk is 192.2 miles long, with 19,933ft of ascent. Long distances, coupled with a large total ascent makes the Coast to Coast a challenge.
After serving 24 years in the British Army and being a veteran now for 16 years, life is starting to become same old same old, I'm craving a new challenge not only physically but mentally and being able to help others at the same time is all the motivation I need, so on the 3rd June 2023 I will set off to walk the 192.2 miles one step at a time from St Bees on the Cumbria Coast to Robin Hood Bay on the Yorkshire Coast unsupported & wild camping as I go, all being well I hope to make it in 10 days.
Think about it. A life without a challenge — a life that is comfortable and predictable — sounds great but believe me for many it is not. Thats why right now in my own life & whilst Im capable I want to grow in my older years, not simply wilt away.
For some though every day is a challenge & being stuck in life is heartbreaking to watch thats why Im supporting Alzheimer’s Society who is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.
Over 42,000 people in the UK are living with young-onset dementia. This is when a person develops dementia before the age of 65.
Like all people living with dementia, younger people can experience a wide range of symptoms. However, there support needs are likely to be different to those over the age of 65.
People living with young-onset dementia need to adjust to living with a long-term condition, and they might be concerned about the effects this will have on their family, relationships, finances and daily life.
Until the day they find a cure, Alzheimer’s Society are helping and supporting those affected by dementia ensuring they are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
I know times are hard in this time of Austerity for so many, anything you can give is greatly appreciated & goes a long long way to helping less fortunate people than ourselves. Thank You
