George's big marathon for Alzheimer's Research UK

London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·
Dementia is one of the UK's biggest causes of death. Someone develops it every three minutes, and currently there is no cure.
My father sadly passed away in April 2022 from Alzheimer's. It was devastating to see him become a pale reflection of his former self, and I hope that someday medical research will help transform the way we can treat - or even beat - this disease.
I'm doing my bit to help advance these efforts by running the London Marathon to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK.
ARUK is UK's leading dementia research charity, dedicated to diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure. Its challenging the way people think about dementia, and is bringing together leading scientists in the field with the funding to advance the innovative science that will hopefully deliver a cure.
Alongside running in memory of my dad, Alan, I'm also running in support of my mother-in-law Jane who has advanced dementia and requires full-time care in a residential home.
Raising money for ARUK is very personal to me, and I hope you can help me reach or go beyond my target of £3,000.
Every penny you give will help make all those blisters feel worthwhile.
My heartfelt thanks,
George
