We lost my Grandad in 2021 to Alzheimer’s.

Unfortunately since then 4 years (7 marathons and 1 cycle from London to Amsterdam) down the line there is still no approved cure for use in the UK. There are trials in the US of a drug which ARUK funded research on. That’s why I’m fundraising for ARUK.

Footballers have been found to have 50% more chance of developing dementia (Alzheimer’s causes dementia )in their lifetime than a general population. Quite frankly, this is frightening and I fear for my dad’s future after a 16 year career in football. My dad is 51. I hope with all my heart that this awful disease does not come to him. But hope really isn’t enough. We need to find a cure for the other 1 million people in the UK living with dementia.
