George's fundraiser for Amyloidosis UK

George Symes is raising money for Amyloidosis UK
In memory of Grandad Bryan

Paris Marathon 2026 · 12 April 2026 ·

We are a patient led charity dedicated to providing information and support for anyone affected by amyloidosis in the UK. We aim to bring the amyloidosis community together and advocate for improved care for amyloidosis patients in the UK.

Story

I’m raising money in memory of my Grandad, who sadly passed away last June after suffering with a condition called Amyloids.

Amyloidosis is a group of rare conditions where a protein called amyloid builds up in your body. It can affect organs such as your heart, kidneys, liver, nerves or digestive system.

Before Grandad was diagnosed with Amyloidosis, I’d never heard of the condition before and I feel it needs to be brought to more people’s attention.

To help raise awareness of the condition I’ve chosen to run my first ever marathon in Paris on Sunday 13th April 2026 in his memory and hope to raise as much money as possible to help fund research towards improving treatments and finding a cure.
