Founded by a passionate individual, Andrew Baker MBE BCAv, who began fundraising at just 14 years old, this charity has a deeply personal connection to the cause. Having personally benefited from life-saving brain surgery and born with a brain injury, Andy, who has dedicated 24 years to supporting and fundraising for our local children's hospital, understands firsthand the critical importance of having access to exceptional medical care for children.

I first met Andy in 2025 as part of my judging role for the Oxfordshire Business Awards (OXBA) - and was instantly enthused and blown away by Play2Give's incredible work, driven by Andy's own desire to give back for his own health and life challenges.

As a parent myself, I find immense comfort in knowing that organisations like Play2Give exist to ensure that every child receives the best possible care and support during their most vulnerable moments. This is why I am proud to participate in the North Yorkshire Ultra Challenge 2026, a 50km walk taking place on 20 June 2026, to raise funds and awareness for this vital cause.

Play2Give’s mission is clear: to continue providing essential funding and support for projects within Oxford Children's Hospital, helping children in need receive life-changing treatment, as well as funding projects at Sobell House, the JR neonatal care unit and at Oxford Head Injury Services - a specialist brain injury rehabilitation centre, which Andy receives transformative care for his own twice-sustained brain injuries.
