I am really pleased to say that I am running the 2026 Robin Hood Half Marathon for The Children's Bereavement Centre.

This charity supports a cause so incredibly close to my heart. After the loss of my wonderful mother Brenda when my brother and I were only 13 and 15 respectively, I wholeheartedly believe in the restorative qualities that grief support offers - and especially for grieving children.

1 in 29 children have lost a parent or a sibling. This statistic speaks volumes of the incredibly isolating experience of adolescent bereavement, and the lack of relatability and therefore consequent lack of resources to support those who are familiar.

The Children’s Bereavement Centre offers free support to children, young people and families across Nottinghamshire and into Lincolnshire who are facing the death or terminal illness of someone they love.

They provide one-to-one bereavement counselling, art and play therapy, monthly peer support groups, family programmes, weekend camps, and candlelight remembrance services. They also work with schools to build knowledge and confidence in supporting grieving pupils.

Here’s how your donation could help:

£10 could fund a comfort bear given to every child accessing support

£25 could pay for one play therapy session for a child

£50 could buy crafts and toys to help children express their grief

£200 could pay for eight sessions of one-to-one bereavement support

Any and all support for this wonderful charity would be so greatly appreciated. Experiencing such personal grief at a young age is life-changing, and I cannot put into words how important that grief support is accessible to all - regardless of any potential boundary.
