I'm running the 2025 BMW Berlin Marathon for Alzheimer's Research UK!

This September, I'll be running my first marathon in memory of my Nana, Jill, who passed away earlier this year from mixed dementia. I'm taking on this challenge to raise funds for the critical work done by Alzheimer's Research UK and to honour the memory of an incredibly resilient woman.

Before she was diagnosed, I was not very familiar with what living with dementia really meant for a loved one. As I watched our family tackle this disease, I sometimes felt quite helpless. I decided to join my Nana’s battle when I applied for a place with ARUK before she passed. Since then, it has become my way of honouring her perseverance, sharing her story with the world, and raising awareness of the disease. I have always loved sport; however, long distance was never my thing (I much preferred sprints!), so this will be a real challenge for me.

Nana carried on brightening up every room after her diagnosis, with laughter and lively renditions of Elvis. Her strength and compassion amazed me and I hope she can inspire us all to love and be kind even in the toughest moments of our lives.
